I've got the calmini gas tank skid plate that I'm looking to put on soon. I was just wondering if there are any issues I should know about in advance because I've heard the skid row plate can be a pain to install. Thanks for any help.

S-R skid issues that might affect the Calmini skid?

[Freak]

I have the S-R skid, and had no problems...I've never looked up close under a Calmini one, so I'm not sure why it would have problems either.

I think the main thing is to have a really long extension to get way up past the tank up to the bolts you'll need.

Here's the front of the stock skid:

Here's the rear bolt locations:

Here's the front with the S-R on:

Here's the stock skid next to the S-R skid:

I hope this helps to see how it goes on, its pretty straight foward really.

I used my floor jack to hold it up and get the threads started, and then just tightened it up and was good to go.

Notice I did pre-spray the OEM rust welds with nut blaster to make my life easier.

Thanks TJ...I did pick up some of the nut blaster the other day, so I'll start spraying it now and try to put it on in a few days.

I really wanted to, especially since I just got sliders and I'm finally putting the skid on, but the funds are a little low at this time so I don't know. Any donations to this poor college kid can't be sent through PayPal laugh

Your sig quote is kind of funny in this context.

There's always the NE4WD Nor'Easter run in May.

I think there's going to be a ton of trucks for that run...we're splitting it between two locations, and each half will wheel the other location, and then switch, to keep the group sizes within reason.

Right I know, I still don't know the proportional break down in trail ratings, how many stockers, SAS'd, etc...as its the first time for this event.

You were a stocker the last time, now you're a bigger dog.

Slowly but surely I'm getting there. Hopefully I'll be able to do more with my truck once I graduate and get a real job this summer.

Yeah - Seth Graduates this year too, but he is going on to graduate school before getting a "real" job.

laugh

This summer he'll be working his ass off to be able to afford to go.
