I got a K&N filter today and when I went to install it, it had two small foam strips in the box with it. I couldn't really figure out what they were for so I just stuck the filter in and it seemed to fit fine.

I just want to check with you all if I had messed it up? Should I expect my X to detonate this afternoon now?

if you read the instructions that should have come with your filter it says at the bottom that the foam strips are only for cartridge style filter boxes you do not need it for the 2001 X.

And the 00 X has the same filter box as the 01 right?
