Anyone in the Chicagoland area interested in helping me install a Borla exhaust? I live downtown and can't do it in my garage. My other option is to take it to a muffle shop but I like doing things myself so I thought I'd try this route first. Thanks!

They won't let you do a simple job in your garage?

Sheesh, when I lived in an apartment with underground parking they set aside a spot in the garage for maintainence/washing.

But, Chicago is a different world...

Its a valet garage so I don't even get to see where its parked (it goes up in an elevator to some other floor). Plus, the guys down there aren't the nicest people and I don't they would let me use the wash area for a job like this.

Its not any better in the suburbs. I heard Aurora had an issue with you working on your car in your driveway.

They also will ticket you for warming up your car in your driveway.

This all from a state that requires you to have a spotter when you are backing out of your driveway. Very old law of course but still on the books as far as I know. [Freak]

I am sure you will ask about this at your next roll call. As I was told by a DuPage County Emergency Driving trainer it is a very old, obscure law. You may be surprised! eek

Is it a local (not state wide) law possibly?

Hey bpdA, so did you get your exhaust intalled?

In MD it's illegal to leave your car running and unattended anywhere but private property with the owners consent.

EAP,
Nope, waiting for it to arrive and still arranging where to get it installed (i.e., me or Midas)

I'd offer up my driveway, but it's a little crappy out right now, and I don't really have any tools to offer, other than the old standards. Sorry....

That is quite possible that it is an ordinance and not a state law. Like I said the current backing law does not require this.

Local ordinances can be funny sometimes. I know the ones here in town are.

Well, got my Borla last night and had it installed at the Midas downtown! Only $40. I got to watch and took pictures. It only took them a wopping 20 minutes to do. Sure must be nice to have the right tools and a lift. Anyhow, the X went right back in the garage afterwards because I had to go to work but I'm eager to play with the new sound (and hopefully power) after work today on the way to the AutoShow tonight! Thanks for the offers of driveway space!
