June Meeting, we'll have a little change of pace! Instead of just a Friday meeting that most can't attend, we're going to try something different. A Saturday afternoon meeting / AZXC family picnic.

What's provided?
A shaded ramada plus extended awning shade, Volleyball courts, Horseshoe's area, BBQ Grills, a kids play area, a train for the kids to ride, picnic tables, room for frisbee or anything else people feel like doing! (including checkers :-)

What you'll need to bring:
You, your family and / or dogs (plus leashes)
Cooler with water / refreshments
Something to BBQ (Spooky, this is for you!) or sandwich if you'd prefer.
Lawn chair
Fun attitude

Date: Saturday, June 7th
Time: 5:30-8 pm
Place: Anthem Park
Directions: From Phoenix take I-17 to exit 229 (Anthem Way)
Go East (right) to the second stop sign which is Gavian Peak
Go South (right) and look for the basketball / volleyball courts (and the Xterra's)
I'll also throw the club banner up.

We'll also be voting on when we would like to have the rest of the summer's meetings. I've heard some good response from people about doing them on Saturdays, so we'll see.

Come out and join us and share in the fun of YOUR club!!

Looks like I might make it up there for a meeting. Depends on if my friend and I accomplish our other Phoenix-bound goals. Woot.

Is it O.K. to bring alcoholic refreshments? Some places frown on that without prior notice and/or a permit? It would not be an AZXC get together without beer and checkers! laugh

Fishing.

Brian forgot to put fishing on the list. There's a very large several section "catch and release" lake in the park. I've spoken with several people fishing while I'm walking the park that say they have regularly pulled 4lb Largemouth Bass out of the lakes. It seems there's always someone reeling something in when passing, really.

I'm not sure about licenses but I'm guessing an "urban lake" is what is called for but it's "catch and release" so no one ever checks. It's a park, no one cares.

Bring your fishin' stuff if you're interested, it's just a short walk from where we'll be.

Brian also forgot to reserve the right ramada... laugh laugh

Hehehehehee. Nice meeting people. Sorry I had to bugger out early, but it was a looooooooooong day. I put 150 miles on my Xterra in the Phoenix area alone.
