Hello Xtoolbox i haven't done it but we might be able to round up a couple trucks or even Swanky group would be up for it.We might even get Dbax for the run. Waldo/onix
I've been anting to do this run for years... But I don't think you can get the permits right now do to the issues along the border. You need 3 or 4 special land crossing permits (an army, and a couple forest ones I think).
Also, since the new border fence, most of the current coyotes and smugglers have been using that area since there is no fence up yet. AZ Republic has at least an artical a week involving that area for violence or border crossings.
Also, there is a 4x4 requierment to get the passes too.
Start checking now if you can get the permits... I think I have some info somewhere about who to contact... Otherwise, get a big group and I would go... Only a couple trucks... I don't think it is worth the risk. Not enough of us to keep the bad folk away.

I was actually planning on running it the same time as you, so we might as well join forces. Getting permits is not an issue, but there is a 4 vehicle limit to each convoy.... I'm in if you'll have me!

Here is the link to the AZ BLM's site about El Camino del Diablo .
According to this site, you will need a permit from the US Marines and a permit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service. There is no mention of a vehicle limit, though.
HeyI'm game if we get past the truck limit. That and the firearms thing too... I don't own one, but I hope someone that is going with does Not the kind of area I'd like to be without (might even be a reason to get something too).
I've heard nearly unpassible mud at some times of the year. I got the winch, but someone has to make it first to ancor too. Then getting everyone across would be a snach.

running that much border with no sidearm makes me nervous.
How could that be in a right to carry state? [/b]
Don't know of it's true, but. The trail traverses a military reservation and a national park. Could be the reason.
Mid March/early April, I believe, is past the wildflower season. April would be a warm, though not hellish, drive.[/b]
I guess someone is going to have to look it up. Me, I stay well clear of the Border areas, I only go as far south as Tucson, and we all know what happened the last time. Needless to say, I won't be going on this one. Unless we annex Mexico before then.
