Hey All -
We are moving back to AZ from TX. We will try and make some club meetings and/or events.
You guys have much of a presence outside of PHX yet?

Moving to Tucson, specifically either Vail or Corona de Tucson. Just depends on which place we find a home we like.

Welcome home (soon), always nice to see some FOGS around. Check out the AZXC homepage for info on upcoming events. Aren't you the one who kept running over wet paint or some chit? Watch out down there, people around here let all kinds of stuff fall off their trucks and litter the roads.

I live in Tucson! I don't own the X anymore, but have a LandCruiser. Let me know if you are ever up for getting out. Also, check out Expedition Portal . A lot of Tucson overlanders frequent that forum, that are well prepared/equipped and are great people. When are you going to be moving back? Welcome!

One thing I like about AZ... the southwestern food IS NOT TEXMEX. I never quite understood what TexMex was until I got to DF-Dubya, and I was not/am not overly impressed.
For instance, 'Can I get cheese on my burrito?' Response... 'Sir, would you like cheese or queso?'
Yeah.

I'm partial to my hole-in-the-wall Mex Resturant PoPo's 67th Ave and Indianschool road. Machaca Chimi with Jalapeno Cream Cheese, Mmmm... Not to mention the .99 Margaritas on Tues(?) and Saturdays! I have no idea what Tex-Mex could be.

I have no idea what Tex-Mex could be. Tex Mex, is a mixture if English and Spanish. Basically it's English with Spanish endings and Conjugations. For example, in Spanish to study is Estudiar. so conjugate it to I study is Yo Estudio. In texmex, they would use the word study and add ar studyar, and conjugate it to I study would be Studyio......

Yasha, you are really a yamsack. What you're referring to is "Spanglish". Tex-Mex is a type of cuisine pioneered in Texas, and sold through bad chain restraunts across America. Think "Don Pablos" or other bad imitations of good food.

I always thought it was called Texmex. I was watching a program about it on tv a while back. My apologies.

Yeah.
s Well, you are in for a real treat! I'm sure you already know Tucson is host to some of the finest authentic Mexican restaurants in the nation. Mi Nidito, El Charro at the downtown location (more touristy, but still good), and Guadalajjara Grill are some of my favorites! Lets plan for one of those places for the meet n greet then.
