Rock Climb?

specificly bouldering(v0-v2 range), i could also go for some easy sport routes(up to about 5.7)

just curious if i have a climbing partner when i get out there...

I know Shanna had a pair of rock shoes but i dont recall if she actualy climbed very often...

on a related note... anyone know if i should bring my shoes & chalk down to Bisbee next weekend... are there any good boulders down that way?

Would love to rock climb- I'm the club Billy Goat. just don't want to buy all of the gear. I already have too many hobbies.

There is a rock wall at the community center in Anthem that I will be practicing on.

pick up a pair of Mad Rock Climbing Shoes ...

cheap as hell... and from what i've heard/read they are GREAT shoes... Stickiest Rubber on the planet even more so that 5.10's Stealth C4(I currently Have a pair of 5.10 Huecos)

the "Phoenix" is $69
(I personaly want the "Hooker Zip's" at $89 they are sickeningly cheap)

a chalk bag is less than $20

and your set(for bouldering at least)

i want to get a crash pad for bouldering but im not shelling out the cash $199 for a while

I went with a friend of mine to the rock gym in Tempe. They were all trying to get me to climb the wall. So I went over to it and grabbed a hold that was above my head and pulled on it.

It made this groaning, creaking sound.

We all agreed that i should just watch.

yeah marshal... not sure the average rock gym has hold built to support you... laugh

although even with my small frame 6' 150lbs i imagine the dynamic forces generated by a Dyno(essentially leaping from one hold to the next, that would otherwise be out of reach) are equal or greater than the static forces your larger frame exert on a hold...

that said i have seen people my size snap hold off in gyms frown Hell I've even snapped a hold out doors.

I've climbed rock walls at several gyms and stores. However, nothing clears your head of work, bills, and funky friends like real rock. Go to Salt Lake's Little Cottonwood Canyon and find "The Thumb". The routes range from 5.7 to 5.13. Myself, I was taking the spans in the 5.8 & .9 range.

That being said, rock gyms are easier to get to, a great workout, and a nice way to get strong.
