We took off Friday about 5 for hiking in Sedona. Luckily, it had snowed at the higher elevations the previous few days.
We stayed at our favorite place in Sedona. Hotel Hauser:
On Saturday after homemade waffles Brenda made, we headed out to our hike. We did the Sterling Pass trail and if you've never done it, it's a true mountain pass! It feels like you're doing the stair stepper machine for an hour and a half as you climb up the switchbacks to the top of the mountian.
Shortly before reaching the top, we came across this hidden canyon with a bit of snow:
We started at the road and from this pic, you can tell how high we were if you look in the background. And we weren't at the top yet!
Once we got to the top and took a 5 minute breather, we started down the other side. The snow was much worse there. About 3-4 inches as you can see here:
Here's Brenda on the snow side:
From there we went to the Vultee Arch which was pretty cool and you go back down to more slickrock:
We ran into sleet about this time from these ominous clouds:
What a great weekend!! We're sore as heck, but some Sedona fudge made it worthwhile!
Join us next time!
