It's that time again. Time for all of us to get together and talk Xterra stuff.

The August meeting will be on the 20th , a Friday night. It will start at 7:30 at the Raddisson.

The meeting we had last time was great. Nice big leather chairs, water and even little pens to take notes with. All are encouraged to come even those who don't have Xterras but were great members.

We need to come up with what we are doing for the rest of the year. So far I have the Indian Springs Cleanup.
So come to the next meeting and let us know where you want to go and see.

we are at 7171 N scottsdale Road, just north of Indian Bend.

from anthem: take 17 south to 101 E, exit 44 is indian bend, head west to
scottsdale rd, 1.5 blocks N on East side.

from W Phoenix, either 101 or Lincoln.

everywhere else, 202 or 60 to 101 N, exit 44, west to Scottsdale RD.

park wherever, come into the lobby, ask for boardrooms, or head left to the
green carpet, turn right, head up the stairs and down the hall. we will be
the first room on the left.

I hope to see you all there.

September's Xcursion:
The plan is to go to trail 300 up by the rim. Dan has volunteered to lead it. We will leave Sat morning at 830 from Anthem on the 11th ( Saturday) and come back Sunday, the 12th. It is a sceanic tour that is accessable for two wheel drives. So families and friends are encouraged. Even if they don't have X's. Dan says that it is less than a 2 hr drive.

This is an interesting drive along the edge of the southern end of the Rocky Mountain escarpment. From lush forest growth to recently fire-destroyed stretches of land, the scenery doesn't dissapoint. FR300 info Depending on the headcount, there are several choice spots along the road to camp. We'll be near the rim lakes too and boats can be rented at Woods Canyon Marina. ($40/4 hours) MMMM, Trout.
EDIT-

Dan says it's a two hour drive from his house to the FR entrance...

I'm not sure if we'll be able to join you on this run or not, but I know of a great area to camp at up there. (As I'm sure everyone has a favorite spot up there) Its past Woods Canyon Lake, right before the turnoff for Bear Canyon Lake. Its a large peninsula the juts out over the rim. AWESOME views, many individual camping spots, secluded (high clearance vehicles only) and semi hard to find.

I'll bring my topo map to the meeting and point it out in case you're looking for a camping spot. The rim is one of my favorite places in AZ, everyone should camp up there sometime if you haven't been.

Good time to get the 2wds out as you can drive a lowrider on Fr300.

Excellent views though, I recommend stopping by the fish hatchery on 260 on the way up/back.

BTW who's frs do I have? I would have returned it at the bike ride but I was abandoned again.
