#325656 - 13/02/08 04:39 PM Stereo swap for 01 X?

Hi folks,

The stock 6 cd stereo in my 01 SE bit the dust and I'm looking to replace it.

Someone has a Nissan model PP-2449V out of an 07 truck (make???) and I wonder if it would fit in my SE.

Thanks for any input.

Otherwise, I'll go to a car stereo place like The Specialists for a new one. Any suggestions there?

Might as well go with a new one. but if it does work. I might be willing to work something out with you. give me a call 650-380-5300. I'm not going to sell it for less than what it's going to cost me to get a new deck.

I think what he is actually saying is that he knows someone that has the stereo already and was wondering if it will fit. And you are aiming too high with the price, these can go for pretty cheap.
I got one laying around at home, I'd definitely sell it for less than the price of the new deck wink

This might help, this site I found this info on was www.shortcircuitrepair.com

Nissan Part # - Manf Part - Nissan Model
28185-7S201RX - PP-2449V J - 05 Titan
28185-7S200RX - PP-2449V C - 04 Titan
28185-EA001RX - PP-2449V I - 05 Frontier
28185-8Z400RX - PP-2449V B - 02-04 Frontier
28185-7Z800RX - PP-2449V C - 02 Frontier
28185-EA600RX - PP-2449V G - 05 Xterra
28185-8Z500RX - PP-2449V A - 04 Xterra
28185-EA021RX - PP-2449V H - 05 Pathfinder

So... There is a chance it is a straight swap in. Just depends on the wiring harnes. Some of those part numbers are Clarion head units, others are Panasonic, sorry I didn't lable the difference. Oh and I didn't find 07 or 08 model years listed on this site either. But There is a cross from a Gen1 to a Gen2 carring the same part number. Best would be to get the Nissan Part number of your head unit and the one you are swapping with. With the VIN (or at least a model and year) the dealer might be able to help you identify which head unit the new one is so you can compair the part numbers for compatibility (if it crossed a generation or not).

The unit in my 01 X is model number 28185 7Z500. It's the 6 CD changer with steering wheel controls.

The owner of the later model sent me pics and the unit is missing one set of plugs, presumably the steering controls.

Anyone have luck with swapping out one of these units with an aftermarket unit and retaining steering controls???

Thanks for all your input, guys.

Hi again,

I just talked with a guy at Crutchfield and they have a JVC stereo that can swap for the factory unit. They have a steering interface for $70 that will maintain the steering controls.

The model is JVC KWX T500 in case anyone is interested. It sells for $200 and fits directly into the slot of the old unit.

Thanks again for your help and for the Crutchfield referral.

For the GenIIs the sterring wheel controls ONLY come with the RF package. So you would also need the amp that is under the seat and the amp is wired for more speakers than the RF option the GenIs had.

Go with the aftermarket this time around... I doubt you'd save enough to make the swap worth it. And I'm pretty sure you will loose your steering controls. (I love mine... But I have the RF package).
