If you want the back story check the Hells Gate thread in the GONE forum. But here's the video of Hustler being the first Xterra to conquer Fool's Challenge. If it looks easy to you come down to Moab and try it (in an Xterra not a Rubicon). Not many people have the guts to do it, and many vehicles fail then roll. Hustler got up third try; he did it easier than the Toyota that failed, and the Jeep that succeeded before he tried it. The Video is Quicktime, if anybody knows of a .MOV to .WMV converter that's free I'd like to know since I prefer not to use QT. Click here and be amazed. (Right click and Save)

I clicked, and I was amazed Two things: 1-Is hustler locked F or R? 2-Were his front sways undone? 3-Anyone got the incline degree on that obstacle?

He is locked in the rear and has crawler gears, I'm not sure if his front sway was undone.
I don't know what the measurement is but you can't climb up the slope on foot.

Just a tip to anyone thinking of doing this during goneMOAB, if you have an aftermarket bumper, you will probably get stuck in the tub due to approach angle problems and have to be extracted out backwards.
Damn , 6 quick bolts and I was gonna' give it a go . Then I thought about the locker and gears..Damn . edit- to make 2nd mad smiley mad, I accidentaly made it happy, damned smiley. 2nd edit to add- Damn, I need gears. Thanks for the picss and video too Dustin

Enough to keep him from falling back. Brian claimed that he pulled him up, but with only 4 guys I think all they did was keep his front end against slickrock.

Wow, that's what it looked like. All I could see from the drivers seat was blue sky.

That's crazy. Never thought an X would go up that kind of a slope. But, just wondering, wouldn't a jeep be more likely to tip backwards than the X due to shorter WB?

There's a good cheat for this, using the old Windows Media Player Classic, Quicktime Alternative still lets you play .movs without having to install that godawful shitty Quicktime software. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm I found a mov to avi converter, but the demo version imbeds a huge watermark over the middle. I'll keep digging around, in the meantime that link I gave is a good option if you hate Quicktime as much as the rest of us do.

Any other angles on this?
So I show my girlfriend the clip tonight and she doesn't believe me that its possible. Says there was a jeep on the other end of the tow strap. Refuses to believe me.
Any help proving her wrong?

This is hopeless, now she says the jeep is on the other side of the hill. Hey, whatever. Thanks for trying to help. WE'll just about it.

There is other video of this,I think two, but they are tape. Just look at the strap. There is not enough tension on it to be from another vehicle pulling. Most important is why would we all be lying. Just have her give Dan Mick down in Moab a call.

I was the last one on the strap and I had to watch behind me so I didn't step off of the drop off right behind me. The Jeep is 25 feet to the left of the strap just out of frame in the picture that is posted. Besides we don't really care if your girlfriend believes it or not. :p
