Okay - this is just sad... but it was fun.

A few of us were at the Denton Dragway on Sat. night watching one of the guys run his bas-ass Chevelle and we decided to have an Xterra VS Pathfinder (old style, with the VG33E engine - same as the Xterra) race. Both vehicles are completely stock in the "performance" department.

You can hear the announcer making fun of us... 12.3 in the 1/8 mile [Finger]

Damn that was funny...It looked like I could have walked faster!! Oh, and what do you attribute your lack of speed compared to the Pathy to?

I've never raced before and so I was slamming the gas right as the green light came on rather than a second or so beforehand.

So he just got a much better start than I did.

I was yelling on my PA but you can't hear it. The second race I had my offroad lights on cool

That seems like it would be a lot of fun with a decent car...

Why would it? I didn't hear any wheelspin to be tamed...

If you have an automatic, next time stand on the brake and rev to about 1500 RPMs just as you're both fully staged, then when you're ready to launch, stab the gas and release the brake. You'll get a pretty good launch.
