Been lurking around the forums and am finally ready to buy my first new Xterra.

What types of deals have the collective been getting? I'm looking for a 02 Xterra SE 4x4 Silver Ice Auto and Sunroof.

I would skip the on the sunroof. I hear they are a pain in the ass.

IMO, I would choose the XE over the SE any day. I prefer the interior trim a lot better and like Xterra Rick said, I heard the sunroof is not all that worth while. You gotta take the basket off, ect... Just roll down the window for almost the same effect.

Well, I just got my 02 SE cloud white, tow hook, Clear bra, and couple other small options, 1 week ago. took it from what the dealer had on hand, got it for $1000 less than the MSRP. Not much a deal but I can live with it. I agree with the others, don't get the sun roof.

Go to edmunds.com they list MSRP, Dealer Cost and True Market Value. Their site is full of info on how to get the best price for your next new car.

I just went through this whole routine! And now own an '02 XE 4X4 Black. It's awesome!! I did extensive research on the internet. The folks here on XOC were a big help, so I thought I would add my .02!

I ended up paying just about invoice price. Don't let the dealer fool you, even if you get your vehicle at invoice they still make money!!!!

Exactly what I was talking about, that's one of the sites I used. It certainly opened my eyes to "hold back" and "floorplan" profits that the dealer doesn't want to tell you about. As well as the money they make if you finance through them.

27,500 2002 SE/SC. Love this truck I would say go with the sun roof. I have had no problem with my sun roof. It's great to be able to look up and see the sky when I want to. I can see if you are going to use the basket it could be a pain I removed my basket as soon as I got it home and have not missed it one bit.

Get a stick. It'll take some time to learn, but nothing beats having complete control of your truck.

on ALL the options for a specific auto. It is great if they start flipping models on you so you know how much all the different options cost. I thought it was really valuable during the bargaining process. I paid $26,600 for my SE S/C Xterra (with sunroof). It is really hard to find a SE S/C without a sunroof (I tried).

If you want the sunroof you have to go with the SE but it is still and option. I really wanted the sunroof but when I did my dealer trade for mine I forgot to mention the sunroof so they through it in at no extra charge. Still with the carpet mats and mud flaps I paid 27,000. But that was also in September when they first came out.

That price included the SUPERCHARGER. You should get into your truck closer to 25k

i still like my sunroof - yep pain in the butt to take off the rack but still worth it i feel - nice to have a little fresh air without having the windows done - enjoy your new purchase

I just bought a sedona Xterra w/ a V6 and 4X4 with the enthusiast package for $18,500. I got it from lynnes nissan in bloomfield, NJ. You have to look in the newspaper for deals the dealers run to get people into the dealership. We didn't have a choice in the color or anything else, but we got an awesome price.

Smart man ! I owe more than that on my 01 that has electric windows that don't work.

I paid 25.5k for an 02' XE 4x4 A/T w/ the power and utility packs and a sleu of other trimmings. That was in 08/01 when the 02's first came out, you could probably trim about 1-2k off if you decided to go w/ a M/T. Good luck.
