Just like last year, a permit is required to drive Imogene Pass and enter the Yankee Boy Basin area.

It's $15, and you can order it online.

Get it here...

Make sure you get the Canyon Creek Vehicle Pass, not the OHV pass.

You can also pick one up in Ouray, but they may have a limited supply.

If you have a question, see if it is answered in this thread from last year...

"Tape" it to the windshield.

They use some kryptonite adhesive shit and I still haven't got mine scraped off from last year.

I just drove Imogene Pass a couple weeks ago and I believe that the pass was only $5. Maybe it didn't include Yankee Boy???? And I simply filled out a form at the beginning of the trail. No need to order in advance. Unless they only refill that fee station every month or two. But it gets so much use that I doubt that.

I had a tough time finding the passes in town last year. This year I have mine on order.

The $5 passes are for 2 days. The forms are not always in the 'self service stations' and without it, you might have a visit from the local Forest Ranger.

Go ahead and spring for the annual pass and support the Forest Service and efforts around Ouray.

Just my thoughts.

Boy you guys are way behind the power curve. I have had my new one for a couple of months now. Pass #084. Not that I am anxious for GOX or anything like that. Only 39 days to go. laugh
By the way I had no trouble getting the old one off. A sharp razor blade and some "Goo Gone"

The trails fall on whatever day you happen to be on them.

Something else to note. If you have a Golden Eagle pass, you don't need to purchase this. If you have a National Parks pass you can upgrade it to a Golden Eagle for $15. I think this is the better $15 spent if you have the NPP, because you can use it at other recreation sites around the country.

Good point Andy- Also- I noticed last night that you can get the parks pass for a discount on the REI website.
Then maybe it will count on refund! I'll have to try that for 2003

I got mine and I think it is #86.

Glad to see that there are other options for parks pass holders.

4 weeks till we load the truck.

Yeah, I'm really starting to worry that something will happen to keep me from going. I've been looking forward to this for two years. I've decided that barring a death in the family I'm going no matter what.

Don't mean to drive this subject into the ground, but you guys that ordered yours from the web site, how long did it take to arrive? Do you think I still have time to order it? I was thinking about buying a National Parks Pass ($50.00)locally, but I could use the extra money I save buying it from the CO website (~$20.00).
