Could be both, decided to do it, and the publicity is a plus.

He only took 6 pills out of his bottle of 40,
If he wanted to do something, he should of took all 40, Not saying that is bad, but if you are "really" trying to do harm, go all the way right......

No they are saying he had the prescription filled on the 18th and he had only taken 5 peoples up to last night when he took the other 35.

I don't like him really, but he does have massive issues. I don't know if you read any of the storys about his life growning up but it was really really messed up.

Oh crap, I guess the story I heard got it wrong...actually I heard it on the radio...

I wonder if he is still going to try to play against Philly on 10/8?

From what I have heard, he add an allergic reaction to the pills. This may have made him go crazy or something.

Oh, and they didn't get the story wrong regarding the number of pills. It's just written in an odd way:

The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time [he] stated, 'Yes.'"

So, if you read it again, it does sound like he had only taken five pills out of the vial, prior to emptying it (into himself) last night.

Just goes to show you, money don't buy it, people.

I bet he took just 5 or 6, flushed the remaining 35 or so down the toilet and then got a big hoopla going in the media.

Of course I could be 100% wrong, but yeah, TO has serious issues either way.

So, who's money is where on why he did this and how it will be spun?

"Also Tuesday, Owens was involved in launching a national campaign for the National Alliance to End Abuse, an organization aimed at helping at-risk youngsters. He appeared at a high school Tuesday morning and was scheduled to visit others but had to cancel because of changes in the team's practice schedule."

I have almost no sympathy for his "attempt."

If he's really got some issues...get help.

If he's like Cobain, "waaaaah....I can't stand the pressure....waaaah!"...well, then he can piss off.

There's a simple solution to the "can't stand the pressure" bullshit....RETIRE.

Let's say this was real....

For 911 to have been called and this report filled out, there must have been good enough proof - of certain events or else the local PD/FD/EMT would not have filled it out the way they did.

Let's say this was a hoax...

Its not beyond T.O. to "fake" his own suicide for publicity. But if it comes out that this was a hoax - its career suicide. No sponsor will ever take him, and (hopefully) no other NFL team would ever take him either. Also a huge black eye in the court of public opinion. You don't just say you tried to kill yourself and then take it back and say just kidding...

Now he's denying it... big surprise.

If he really still has the other pills just not in the bottle then I would believe him. In his press conference he also said that he didnt have his stomach pumped. They definitely would have pumped him if it was the 35 that the report claimed.

The news in DFW said his stomach was not pumped, they gave him charcoal. He squirted out black shit instead.

I hate to say it, but I'm going to call bullshit on this one.

There is no way in hell T.O. tried to commit suicide, or fake it.

I actually believe that it was an accident/allergic reaction, and I am no T.O. apologist, not by a long shot.

This makes no sense. I know most suicide attempts don't, but looking back a good majority of the times you can see the signs.

There was an excellent article about T.O. in the last ESPN Mag. I know he's fucked up, and his life growing up was fucked up. But this still doesn't add up.

Agreed. This was pure media frenzy over a preliminary report. He was likely out of it and had no idea what they were asking him. Idiot media.

Yeah, there was such a "rush" to be the first to report something on this story, and then whoever broke it gets it wrong, serves them right for releasing something before the facts are established.

Besides, T.O. is in so much love with himself, there is no way he would harm himself.....

I give the media a pass on this one, Unless the cops lied and made up everything in the police report :rolleyes: . Also, why didnt anyone produce the so called pills in the drawer? Secondly, who does that to begin with? "This child proof cap is just too tough for me to open over and over, Im just gonna dump em in the here drawer instead."

T.O is a mentally unstable individual probably suffering from a bi-polar or borderline personality disorder.

We'll never know the 'truth'.

We just have to decide who we belive: the police report or TO's spin machine.

I have to say though, as the Dallas Chief of Police said, he stands by his men and what they reported. If TO's spin machine says their reports are false, file a lawsuit against the department.
