Okay, it seems like we lost out domain. Though we don't know why, but somehow Godaddy lost the registration and pool.com bought it. Since Rich is the one who paid for it, he is supposed to deal with Godaddy.com to get the name back, or at least get compensation for the lost domain. Either way I bought njax.net and we're using this. Though .ORG was cooler, we're stuck with .NET until Rich B called go daddy or does anything really in regards to this problem. Update your bookmarks: http://www.njax.net Update your T-shirts and stickers also.

Sorry to poke in here BUT I wanted to share our similar experience. We ended up changing our's from .org to .com
It sucks that there are search engines that steel your domain like that. Sorry that this happened to you guys too.

Hey no problem.
Our domain issue is a little involved, I'll try to explain all I can.
It all started back in September when NJAX.org expired. I realized this when the site went down. So I called Rich Bennet, which owned the domain. He said he would renew it and it seemed like he did.
The next day the site came back all fine and dandy.
Now come November and the site goes down again. So I check the WHOIS and strange, the domain did not expire, it looks like the DNS info was just reset some magical way.
So I call Rich and tell him to update the DNS entry. Then Rich disappears.
For the first couple of days when you went to NJAX.ORG you'd get a "this site has been parked" blah blah page as expected. But then it just returned nothing. Very strange. So of course I'm calling Rich daily, we all think he died at this point. I even called his Mother on Thanksgiving and she wasn't home.
Anyway, now come December 16, Rich pops online amazingly and he's not dead. Though he blocked my name from AIM so I can't see, but another member notices him and quickly asks for the login info for GoDaddy.
Too late the DNS servers have just changed to pool.com. I do a WHOIS and on Dec 15th pool.com bought the domain. ONE DAMN DAY TOO LATE.
So what do I do, but now with the GoDaddy information I call them and ask them why our domain was sold even though we paid for it.
She claims that once a domain expires it no longer shows on their system. It seems to be true because I can't find anything to do with NJAX.org in his account. I told the lady the whole story and she says that if we DID pay it, we need proof. And with said proof we can get compensation for the loss of our domain. Proof is a receipt, even a credit card receipt would be okay.
I call Rich to no avail, I emailed him, nada. He just doesn't call back or anything.
And the worst part is that he could most likely get cash out of the whole ordeal, but he just doesn't do anything about it.
Anyway, so I at least own NJAX.net and like the 20 other domains I host, I will not let is expire nor will I disappear for a month and a half while still being alive.

Jorge - Hey - Thanks for all the leg work you did to try to salvage this whole thing! If I understand your post though, you still feel that if you were to die, you might not be able to continue in this function. I suppose that's a reasonable compromise given your healthy lifestyle, etc.

I guess I could find someone to take over if I die. Well, find someone before I die, since after I die it'll be a little hard. So if I die and someone starts feeling the presence of a ghost trying to tell them the root password it's me. If I can write it in blood I will.

Jorge,
Sorry to jump in, but I just got a postcard from Lu (Swiss high school exchange student) who spent the holiday in the Alp's. He was remembering goneMOAB two years ago. Thought I would pass along that he was alive and kicking.
