While going over my truck, I knew there was some slop in the steering. I just thought I would need a bushing.

The bushing is fine but the bracket is cracked at the weld and bent.

There's only a small scrap on the bottom but it was not in the direction of the bend confused

I'm thinking that its less likely from direct impact, and more likely from transferred force from the steering...as in maybe your tire did the impact, and the force was transmitted to the shear point?

I can't tell from the pic...but is it bent in more than one plane?

I can see a bend across the flat bar...like the bushing mount was bent back towards the frame, but was there any other twist to it?

With that part bolted down...it seems an unlikely point to bend, unless the bolts were loose, or the forces were pretty dramatic?

I did the same thing to mine in Moab in November 2005. I was trying to take the steep line up the water fall on poison spyder and popped the wheels up coming over the top. I bent it far enough when I came back down that the bolt on the end of the arm/centerlink was in contact with the frame. So the steering locked and I was not able to make the fast turn I needed to at the top of the water fall in order to miss the huge rock right in front of me.

So yeah it can be done and mine was not a direct hit as well.... just a really really hard hit.

I have also heard of 2 others bending... not sure about cracking. Same thing though hard indirect hits.

Anything is possible with enough force.

Yeah, everything was tight and the bend is right at the bottom of the frame. it's bent right at the weld with just a little twist.

I think I'll weld some angle iron to the bottom of the frame for support. Then it can't bend laugh
