So I am underneath my X today to align my bumper and I noticed some rust! where it is exactly is on the shrockworks stamp and in the square holes that are cut near the skidplate. I noticed it mainly at those 2 ponts and also it looks like its peeling....

So I am a little pissed! considering I have only had this bumper since last october and I also have had this truck rustproofed prior to winter....

What do I do?

The top part of the bumper and bars are fine.

To have the bumper repowdercoated is gonna cost me alot of money..

any ideas?

Call Jim and talk to him about it. Or just slap some por 51 on it.

I think thats what I am going to do...but I wonder what he could do for me as I live in Canada and shipping is a nightmare to here.

So what are you going to do when you drag it over a rock?

If that was the reason then there wouldnt be a concern, but to have it rust just on its own in that little amount of time...that is a concern for me.

I've had mine on my truck for a while now.

Front one - since they first released
rear one - since they first released

And they have had no problems with rusting what so ever.I've scratched them off roading but I've always tried to take care of them. But besides that no rust..

Just get a can of black rustoleum like everyone else and spray it when they gouge it on a rock.

Is it really that much of a dilemma? How do you "rustproof" your truck anyway? Does the Canadian Nissan dealer do this for you?

No its not a real issue, but its rusting without doing excessive wheeling....my rustproofing is down by a local rustproofing shop[ a friend of mine owns so I know I am getting good quality service.
So the result of this is
just got off the phone with Jim...he was sorry it happened, but he suggested I use a wire brush on the rust remove it and then paint it with a rust inhibitor...

I think I might just get por-15 and paint the bottom half...as it bonds to rust so really no sanding is needed...has anyone used this stuff before and if so what kind of preping does my bumper need?

thats what I am going to do...

Try this stuff --- KBS COATING SYSTEM --- works just as good as POR 15 and a little less hurt on the pocketbook. I've used it on my skidplates with great success.
