I know there are companies that rear swaybar disconnects. I was thinking of getting new nuts and welding t-handles to the nuts. Dumb idea or good idea?????? Dan

Two solutions... Unbolt your rear sway bars with a wench and socket (10 minutes max.) and tie them up out of the way, or, buy the Calmini model (cheap and works well). 70 mph + homemade suspension parts... What could happen here ? The life you save might be mine in the other lane. See ya on the trail, Doc

Or you could just upgrade your shocks, remove the rear swaybar and never miss it like the rest of the people before you.

The reason I thought of this. I work for a company that has machining, welding, and heat-treating vendors. It would be much better than homemade, how bout billet!!

Ian, Were you refering to the Calmini "quick" disconnects. Part # NP12520 Price $79.95/pair or are there some other kind Calmini offers?
I have these on order(feb 2nd). They say that will be a few more weeks before they are ready..they are redesigning them and are testing them at the moment...

I was thinking of getting new nuts and welding t-handles to the nuts. I was going to do that very same thing with my 4runner. Previously, I tried drilling a hole in the bolt and using a hitch pin, but I couldn't get it close enough so there was a lot of play. At that point, the sway bar was useless. Here's some pages of cheap disconnects that the toyota crowd came up with (sorry, I only know toyotas but it's the same idea). http://www.off-road.com/toyota/cheaptricks/swaybar2/ http://4crawler.cruiserpages.com/4x4/CheapTricks/SwayBar.shtml hope this helps, Steve

I think the Calmini solution is very sweet and might pick up a set myself. But the Calmini site lists them at $79.95, which is a little nuts, if you ask me.
I drive my truck on-road more than off, so there's no way I'm disconnecting or removing the sway bar. I know a lot of people say "they don't miss it" but I'm not convinced. We all know what they're supposed to do in theory, and I don't think Nissan would've put a set on there if they didn't think it was necessary... Maybe you're just not driving fast enough? Hehehe.

I've had mine off for a couple weeks once and I noticed a big difference. I like having it on when on road, there's alot less body roll around corners.
Since the Calmini's are so expensive I was just going to disconnect the link at the top and strap the verticle part of the sway bar the to horizontal part. Then connect the swaybar to the body with bungie cord so it doesn't drag on the ground.
I just havent't gotten around to putting all together.
