Just a quick question.
I have a 2000 automatic xterra. I can shift just fine into 4wd low but when I try to come out I always get some gear grinding. What's the trick to get it out smoothly?

Speed. You cant pause long when you depress the lever to get it out of low.
I recall a great thread on this sometime ago, had a video in it and everything. Try searching in this topic, it should be easy to find.

Thanks man I found it. Sorry for not searching first. I didn't think it was such a common question. I just thought I was stupid. This is my first 4wd and it's only my second winter.

Everybody asked me how my weekend was to which I replied "I love my Xterra". I went and got my christmas tree, decorations, breakfast, and all during a snow storm. I friggan LOVE it. I'll be posting pics when they're developed.
