Shifting to 4W very Spongy

When I attempt to shift into 4 wheel drive mode, there is really no "positive" shifting. It goes in but feels very spongy. Is this normal or are adjustments needed? Thanks.

I believe it's normal. Mine has been "spongy" since day 1. It's definately spongier than my gear shifter.
