Good work!

2wd'ers have been asking about that since this forum began. You should start a thread to tell everybody all the details!

No point in it every time someone one brings up the subject all they get is BASHED by everone that they should have bought a 4X4 or some other type of BS.

With the first Gen it is possible, should all be basically a bolt in. And if you do it yourself it should be cheaper than a trade in.

The second Gen sure it is possible but there is so much electronics that have to be changed.

How about a part list and an estimate on the parts cost?

Perhaps so.

But now that it's been done, that should stop.

C'mon, post details!

where did you get the mod to change the slip torque on the LSD? Great post and good job on the conversion.. You have any plans to do an SAS?? Would be pretty cool to go from a 2WD to a SASed animal..

If you have an LSD already what you need is a couple extra discs and Plates and a new spring plate and retainers. I have manuals for the Hard body and pathfinder the older Nissans have LSD's set up at 280ftlbs I copied them. I plan on doing an SAS next year some time. I am not sure if I want to do the Calmini Kit or do a leaf spring set up.

Really, it looks like that is the way to go... looks like going from 2WD to SAS 4WD would only require slapping in a new transmission w/transfer case plus the rest of the stuff that a SAS usually requires anyway.

Was there any difficulty with the computer when switching trannies - or are they the same as far as the computer knows?

No everything just bolted/plugged in with no problems the only thing that I had to do was make my Speedomiter(sp) cable about 12" longer.

If I did not have to have this as a DD I would have went the SAS way first but I am happy with what I have now.

You should talk to the Goderators about making this thread a sticky. This is a question that has come up countless times. Now instead of being flamed, they can see how it's done.

I got all the information from a 95 pathfinder FSM also Brent help me with some of the part# needed. The Hanes Manuel should also have the break down in it not sure if it will have the Part#'s in it but. I have the FAST system on my home computer so I was able to plug in the Vin# from a friends Pathy and got the numbers for what is needed.

I've only been wheelin' my converted truck for over 2 1/2 years already. Jeff, this was posted on XOC before but no one ever stickied this stuff, why I don't know because you're right everyone always asks.

My website and details are in the same place they have always been, in my signature...

You are the man yo! You have made things possible for the rest of us. lol, too bad your parts list alone has made me a little nauseas and frankly this type of job is way out of my abilities. I'd probably take my car apart, quit and fail to put it back together.

Its not hard to do just labor intensive the worst part for me was getting the 2WD transmission out then installing the 4WD tranmission and transfer case. There are no special tools needed just a hub wrench. its all bolt in and if you have an FSM that will answer most if not all of you assembly questions

Was doing the conversion still cheaper than it would have been if you had just bought a 4wd? Not bashing (I have a 2wd smile ) just curious.

Probably so since he got used parts and did all the labor himself.

It doesn't make sense to think "I'm going to save money by buying a 2WD and converting it later" but it might make sense to convert what you've got rather than trying to change vehicles.

Trading my truck in was not an option it was paid for I did not want to start over with another truck payment so I converted it.If I could do it over I would have SASed it but at the time that was not an option for me it was my DD and I couldent have the truck torn apart that long.

As for how much it cost you dont want to know I have tons of upgrades and still need to get a whinch bumper and a ARB locker am I happy with the end result HELL YES
