A buddy of mine put me on to a snorkel that is available for the Xterra. Just wondering if anyone else is running one? I was kinda hoping it wouldnt void all of my factory warranty, I dont mind losing the paint warranty. I just dont want to lose my whole warranty so soon. Might have to wait a bit to do this mod. But it just looks so friggin cool!

I would say it probably will void your warranty but that's my opinion. KCX in HXOC just installed his recently.

That is the reason I want the snorkel. Cooler air then what is being drawn out of the engine compartment. I have the K&N Filtercharger and would have to build a water tight box to seriously use the snorkel as intended.

On the watertight subject....the ECU is in under the dash....how can you protect it? I trashed the ECU in my Jeep TJ when I crossed a creek. If you left the plugs in the floorboard my jeep would float so I cracked the door to let the water in and sink the Jeep....well that fixed the floating problem and I made it across but that was the end of my trail run that day! Anyone ford deep water with their X and have any advice?????

With my snorkel, K&N air filter, Calmini catback exhaust and 33x12.5 Truxus....I still get 18 mpg! (edited!) You can purchase 2 different kinds from 4x4parts.com. They run about $250.

Hey KCX, I was reading the 4x4parts page and it says minor fabrication required to install....whats involved with this? Do they include the materials or do I have to get it from a hardware store?

Do they include the materials or do I have to get it from a hardware store? Be prepared to cut your fender in many areas. You will have a large hole for the intake and about 8 or so smaller holes for the bolts that hold the snorkel on....then a few spots by the windshield pillar that secures the top part of the snorkel. They supply plumbing for the inside, but it doesn't work for the American style Xterra, so you will have to go to the hardware store for a few things...no biggie, just a few items that will make it work that you can find anywhere. I found an awesome way to customize your stock airbox to match with your snorkel. Sooo.......if you purchase a snorkel and you want/need more instructions for the install, you can pm me or send an email.
