No,they only waste money.
Nothing you jam in you intake will increase anything,it only decreases airflow.
Try a name brand intake instead.(eg.Volant,K&N) They will help.

Popular Mechanics just did an article in one of the recent articles, they tested several different bolt on stuff that is supposed to icrease mileage and power. One of them was the tornado, another was those magnets on the fuel line, another was one of those water injection kits. I don't remember what the others were, but I do remember that they said that NONE of them helped. As a matter of fact, some of them actually hurt the mileage. I think the tornado actually hurt the power AND the mileage!!

I found the least expensive way to get somewhere sooner was to leave earlier.

I did notice a small increase in gas mileage after installing an Airaid intake.

My theory is that the SC was straining to suck air through the stock airbox (same airbox as the non SC) and that caused the engined to hard to turn the SC. After the flow was unrestricted, the SC turned easier leading to an ever so slight increase in power and mileage.

About the AirAid Spacer now I know alot of post are out there on this one. I did put one on my X only because I got it for super cheap. And I can say it did not do anything for my rig. Now I do still have it on because it does make the X sound like it has a big 4 barrel carb on it. Maybe for you with the SC it did, but in my rig it just sounds good.

I bought one of those tornadoes from ebay.It didn't do anything for my mileage and i actually had less power with it in.I noticed it on the highway when I would go to pass someone and the engine would hesitate and sputter.well, as soon as I got home that day I took it out and tossed it in the garbage.
Just my 2 cents.
