Ok, after years of reading over posts from X owners that have bought a smaller pulley I decided to buy one. Got a 2.3 off Ebay for $90 from Pulleyboys.

BigE ... You also installing a boost gage? Or do you already have one? Also, if you have a K&N it's never a mad idea to buy a fuel/air ratio gage.

And if you buy an A/F Ratio gauge make sure you get a wide band gauge. The narrow band gauges give you nothing more than a pretty light show. The wide band will give you something much more accurate, A NUMBER! And anytime you're adding more boost to any vehicle you should always monitor your A/F ratio cause you dont want to blow up lol.

I have a boost and oil pressure gauge mounted on the pillar and a Airaid air intake. I don't plan on driving too hard, I say that now, I just need to make sure I take it easy on her.

You may not drive it hard on the road hard, but spinning tires in the mud and red lining the tac is really putting alot of pressure on the engine with more boost. laugh

Are you saying it might be a bad idea? I knpow there are a couple of X and Fronty owners that haven't had any problems since they installed the smaller pulley.

It's a great idea as long as you make sure that its still running a good air/fuel mixture.

How difficult is it to install the air/ful gauge? Haha, I don't even know what it would attach to! laugh

Most wide band AFR gauges replace your downstream Oxygen sensor.

Your a/f ratio will probably be disgustingly fat anything above 3500 rpm mine was after I did an intake on my 02 S/C. The a/f ratio won't be the problem possibly detonation. So grab and MSD BTM or a meth kit to combat this if it becomes necessary. I will let you know my 2.3" pulley should be here next week. As far as the additional load on the engine, based on my experience of modifying cars & selling performance parts for a living. I don't think theres an engine out there that can't handle a 25% increase in power.

Minishred...since I installed the dual exhaust on my '02 S/C it now runs like shit...the knock sensor keeps shuttin down the s/c and all the power is gone. I went up to 2 1/2" to a dual inlet series 40 flowmaster with dual outlets. I had it at the nissan dealer and they said that they had a knock sensor code and said that all the checks came back good. I think that theres not enough backpressure and might have to step down to the 2 1/4 stock size...or maybe to get more air into the motor put on a smaller pulley and a cold air intake system on it. What do you think??
