i went to the muffler shop awhile back and i was thinking about changing the cats to high flows. my muffler guy quoted me about 200 bucks to change both of them. i thought the X was OBDII, so high flow cats weren't available yet, but i might be wrong. i think this would make a pretty big difference since it helped out my other cars. any thoughts?

p.s. i've done searching but it seems like many ppl having talked about it, or i don't know how to spell catalytic. smile

I haven't done it, but was looking into it along with headers about 6 months ago. I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible. I was planning on using these...

XtremeFlow

However, now that I live where I have no emissions testing, I am seriously considering getting rid of the cats altogether if I can figure out how to do it without screwing up the computer. laugh I just need to find some headers first...ugh! I may break down and take a chance on the SLR ones.

is the computer really dependent on the cats. from what i saw under the car there are no sensors on the cats, so i think it would just increase the flow just like putting a new muffler on the car. can anyone confirm this?

i know the cats come with a some sort of degree bend in them, so the muffler shop will have to bens a new pipe and possibly move the cats back a little bit.

There should be O2 sensors before and after the cat/s to make sure they are working.

not sure about all states but i know in New Jersey it is not legal to put anything other than the factory cat into a vehicle that was made in 1994 or newer (basically anything OBD II). You wont pass NJ inspection.
