I used to put STP fuel injector cleaner into my Trooper every 3,000 miles. Saw no ill effects. Ran well until the timing belt broke.

I put BG44K into the X every 8,000-10,000 miles. Seeing no ill effects. Is it helping? I'll let you know at 200,000 miles (87,xxx now).

Buy a gallon of denatured alcohol and put 12 ounces in before you fill the tank. That will clean out a bunch of crap, plus it works as a great octane booster.

Run whatever injector/cleaner through on the tank before you change the oil. Good interval, and you won't have the potential of whatever amount of it that gets into the oil staying in there and potentially causing problems.
