Fellas,

I searched but didn't really find a whole lot of information...My X has a VERY rough and rattly ride over bumps so I'm going to be doing a few upgrades on the suspension. I was wondering if anyone has any specific shocks they would recommend for a firm yet comfortable DD setup in stock form.

Also, the search turned up a few result indicating that the shock replacement for 1st gens was pretty straight forward, any truth to this?

Thanks in advance,

JordanC

If your going to stick w/ stock height and STAY w/ stock height go w/ the standard bilsteins on ebay. Nismo makes shocks too but I beleive they are the same as the bilsteins only w/ Nismo written on them and they are silver. Expect to spend 240-260 for the set if you go that route. Check West Covina Nissan they usually have decent prices on Nismo stuff. The install is easy but start spraying your bolts w/ PB Blaster now because my fronts were a BITCH to get off. Other than that is can be done in the driveway as long as your able to get the bolts off.

I put some Rancho RSX shocks on my '01. The stock Nissan ones were shot (at 60K miles). I really liked the ride with the Ranchos, but that is just me. Many people like the Bilsteins.

Ok thanks for the input. I've had a very bumpy/rattly ride lately so I'm sure are some bump stops or bushings or something else under there that needs fixing as well. I think I will probably go with the NISMO shocks as a bling factor with the NISMO exhaust. Thanks again.

I just put the Nismo exhaust on my 07 Frontier and love it. Not too loud, just how I wanted it. Sounds much like a 350z now.

Yea I LOVE my NISMO exhaust. I went with the Volant Intake instead of the NISMO. As for the NISMO rims...wayyyy too much $$$.

From what Ive found about all the intakes, Ill be doing the same and getting the Volant intake as soon as I can afford to do so.

I feel the closed setup up will be much better for offroading.
