Mine moved about half an inch touching leaf spring. I could have pushed it back to the original spot by myself...(I guess anybody can...), I had a dealer take care of it. One week later, it moved right back...

Solution: ...a removed rear sway bar.

i could be showing my ignorance here, but won't that lead to a loose rear on the highway and stuff? unfortunately, i cover mostly highway and city miles in my X, and i worry about loosening her up too much...am I right or crazy?

ur crazy
I drive any where from 900-1200 miles a week.
I dont have a sway bar. Anyways most trucks and suv's dont have sway bars and if they do its because they have a high roll over rating. U will not even notice any body roll when u take it off.

Chia... almost all trucks and SUV's do have anti-sway bars. They are a fact of life in suspension design.
A solid axle doesn't require one as much as an IFS design does, but they are there for a reason.

Removing it from the Xterra is noticable, but does not make the vehicle much less drivable.

One thing I notice with mine anti-sway bar off is that I get less wheel hop from the rear tires when going over bumps. I had to use an impact wrench to get it off.

Technically, you are correct but in the real world, its probably not a big change. It is quite an easy modification. You should try it....if you don't like it, put the thing back on!

If your concerned about on road performance without the sway bar, replace your stock shocks with something stiffer at the same time you remove it. (bilsteins and rancho's both have benefits) You likely will not notice the difference then.

I agree. Try the ride with the bar off/disconnected and see what you think. I have not noticed a difference yet. Great difference off road however.
