Does anyone know who supplies the ball joints for the SLR/AC/Calmini control arms? The Calmini and SLR are obviously different parts. I have a torn boot and need a replacement. I looked through Moog's online catalog and found part number K9022 for a D21 upper ball joint. It looks like it would work assuming that Nissan hasn't changed the taper pin between the Hardbody and Xterra.

Did you call CALMINI or SLR to see if they have replacements or can tell you where to find them?

Thanks, I just got a call back from Spencer. He uses standard D21 ball joints, so the Moog part number will work.

The boots on the Moog ball joints fail very quickly (unless they have changed their design).

Try and get a Nissan D21 replacement, your dealer should have them.

I tried my dealer over lunch. None were in stock and they couldn't give an estimate of when they could get some. This is the same place that told me a centerlink that hits the frame has normal play. O'Reilly Auto Parts had the Moog part, I'll see how long it lasts.

I am bringing this back from the dead as I had searched and this was as close to what I wanted to know.
I have the Calmini arms and I also would like to know what a aftermarket replacement part number for the balljoints are as I don't think it was mentioned unless I missed it.
Thanks-RJ

The ball joints from a 93 D21 hardbody will work, Napa part# is 10424.

Dana/Splicer provide that same ball joint and built tough, run about 28 bucks each and can get them napa ect. Auto zone actually sells the same Duralast ball joint that Ac provides in their kits and run about 18 dollars. Plus offer A lifetime replacement. Dealers wont list a part number for the ball joints because stock ball joints are pressed into the UCA assembly.

No they're not. Not on a D21 frame. They're pressed in for the D22 frame, and require you either get one from a junkyard, or buy the whole control arm. But that's not the case for the D21 BJ's. They're bolt-on.

They make a premium and a standard ball joint, ask for the premium.

laugh

The premium is the one that comes with the SLR kit, the standard is the one that comes with the Calmini kit. (I had both in my garage at the same time when I got the SLR's, and was selling the Calmini's...)

Sorry, but who is "they". I have the SLR UCA's and have torn boots also. I am planning on replacing them this spring when the weather gets a little warmer.

Thanks. Are these any better than what could be bought from NAPA?

I've been using NAPA premium (SLR type) when they have them and the regular (Calmini type) when they don't have premium. I've got one of each on my truck now and have for a while. I've had one premium wear out completely, but usually end up changing them for torn boots before there is any slop in the joint.

Premium or regular... Do they make any difference?
