Now before you go turning up your noses at the idea, realize that Im not an "Off roader" and I was talked into trading in my sweet S-10 for the Xterra by my Ex (room for kids)!!
Ive gotten rid of the Ex, and since Id be upside down on the payments, it seems Ill be in the Xterra for a while
Im looking at doing it to mine but havent seen any kits or parts to do it with.
I was wondering if anybodys done it and can tell me how they did it.
Thanks in advance.

Ok guys...hold back the flames...I'll handle this one!!! To answer your question...you'll need to try a different site. Try www.blingblingI\'maIdiot.com !!! laugh [Huh?] [LOL] I'm sorry if you don't agree but you did say "sweet S10" eek !!! To put your X on the ground just buy some 12 inch diameter rims with low profile tires. You'll save enough for a boom box and some chrome exhaust tips! [LOL]

Nope, I think if I wore that much stuff I'd pass out from the heat before I even got close to a fire. smile

All the flaming aside, the Xterra would not be easy to lower. You could get a flatter spring pack for the rear, but you would lose upward wheel travel, every bump on the road would be felt as the axle hit the bumpstop.

Same thing for the front. Since there are no coil springs, you can't just cut them to lower it. You can lower the front via the torsion bars, but the preload would be decreased, and the suspension would be very soft, which would cause it to bottom out quickly.

The 2WD Xterra is built on the 4WD Xterra suspension, so you would be best off selling it and buying something else.

XOC,
smile Thank you VERY much for you opinion and comments. I knew I would probably get slammed for the question, but I had to ask it, and as others have said, Id probably be better off selling it!
Thing about sellling it is that its not worth what I owe on it, so.......
Thanks again XOC
P.S. For all of you jacked up 4X4 guys that answered, as the saying goes " What goes up, MUST come down" laugh

Sounds like you plan to and want to sell it when you're no longer stuck with the payment, so why trash it by lowering it and severely screwing up the resale value?

I know this has never been mentioned here before  but there is a guy who lives near me with a lowered X. He also painted the thing orange, even the roof rack. It has huge wheels with almost no rubber on them and it looks like shit.

OH MY GOD you guys are crazy [Huh?] I can't stop laughing. In regards to question you are better off buying low profile rims. I saw an X driving around town with them [Too much XOC]

Man is it HOT in here! [LOL]

Ok, if you REALLY want to do it, use lowering blocks in the rear and lower the t-bars in the front. It will ride like crap but it's your truck and you can do whatever you want to it.

Two things..

Why did you bring to life a post as old as this?

Why don't you know how to insert an image into a thread?

Three things
1. I didn't know there was a time limit on replying to a post if there is then erase the old ones.
2. I spend my time working on my truck (which was EASILY lowered and probably rides BETTER than most xterras out there) so inserting a image in a thread is not on my "to do" list. I was just clearing up the false info posted on this forum.
3. I have respect for anyone who fixes up a nissan, I admire the hard work and dedication it takes to build a vehicle and obivously this site doesn't agree with me so i'll search for a site for dedicated Nissan fans.
P.s. It ain't for sale. [Wave]

Its more like the people at this site are generally geared towards off roading, and less towards bling...but there have been MANY people who did non-off road mods, and depending upon their attitude and presentation, they were met with either approval or disdain.

laugh

So, while my tastes prefer ground clearance over ground effect, and frankly, I think you ended up with some sort of blue hearse, I have no problem with you showing off the fruits of your labor.
