my neighbor dropped off her laptop (PC XP Pro) for me to take a look at, she said she was unable to get onto facebook, you tube and google, sure enough when I typed in the sites I got "Page can not be displayed" I have run about 5 different programs and removed TONS of trojans and malware, but still no dice. Has any of you ever seen this?. Suggestions? (other than buying a MAC)

Download and run MalwareBytes (it's free) if you haven't already.
If that don't fix it, wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Order a recovery CD from whoever makes the laptop and completely reformat / reinstall Windows. I do the same for my neighbor about every 6 months - 2 teenage kids just can't seem to click 'No' on anything and she gets horribly infected all the time. Even with a virus checker running.

Have you tried opening a Command Prompt window and seeing if you can at least ping some server on the internet?

Check the output of "ipconfig /all" in a Command Prompt window and see if the laptop has IP setup correctly and can resolve host names.
