Hey all,

We're right around the corner from the rollout of the next gen of console, the Xbox 360. Anyone here plan on picking one up? Looks like there is a lot of anticipation surrounding this console. I was just over at the AVS forums and there were 142 people viewing their gaming forum at the same time!

I'm gonna wait until the first price drop for the PS3, which means I still have a couple years for my PS2.

I thought about it but decided against it. I'll just have to wait for the price drop like I did with the original Xbox.

I'll be getting one for myself, no, I mean my son, for Christmas!

I will definitely be getting one, but I'll wait until after the holidays (unless I win one ).

Hell no. Dell makes the same machine, only in black and it's called a PC and does more stuff.

Good luck finding one, my buddie had one on pre-order at best buy for like 2 months, even paid for the thing and they told him they aren't receiving enough stock to fill pre-orders and offered him his money back!

I'll sell my 1 year old Xbox first then add a few hundred dollars more to get the 360!

Waiting until March 2006, when I can get a new PS3.

but you had better watch out, this topic stirred up some sh1t a while back.

I worked at Electronics Boutique when PS2 was released and stores were selling out of them before they were even in stock. We never knew how many we were getting in each day -- every morning during our regular shipment we would find them hidden in boxes of other merchandise. Then we would call the people on the waiting list and tell them they had X number of hours to come into the store to buy it. Then we would have to double bag it in the storage room so that nobody could see what was in the bag and also offer an escort to the customer's car. We strongly suggested that they did not carry it around the mall while doing the rest of their Christmas shopping.

Crazy what some people will do to get one.

Nope. Definately waiting for the PS3 to come out. I don't want to buy another DVD player of any sort, that's based on the old (current) DVD format. BlueRay and/or DVDHD are amazing, and I'm hoping to consolidate some components when I buy the PS3. No sense buying something that will be old technology in only a few months. And it won't be something that's upgradeable, either. Whole different laser type w/ the new DVD formats. Not worth it at all to get the old stuff.

I must say 360 has the most comfortable controllers i have ever fealt...

I'm still avoiding it like the plague till they work out the bugs, as 2 of the 5 demo units i have seen have crashed...

one i saw dead, the other died when i tried to play Kameo.

Although I have one on hold for me (my brother-in-law manages a video game store), I may save the $400 and await for the PS3... We'll see...

there are actually to kinds, one is $300 for the base, and then one for $500 with bs in it.

You do realize how much you could turn around and sell the 360 if you sell it before Christmas, right?

no... there is a 399 version that has everythig you need including a hard drive

and there is a 299 version that isnt good for shit.

Yeah, I know... That's what I did for the PS2 when it first came out... It'll be there for me when i want it... Well, at least for the first week.... He said that's my deadline... Otherwise, he's gonna sell it to the masses!!

Are we sure that there's gonna be a shortage of these this season? I can see $25 Cabbage Patch dolls and Tickle Me Elmos, but this is a freakin' $400 item here.

I can see an artificial shortage erupting as people across the country buy 3 or 4 of these at a time in an attempt to create a shortage that they can then profit from. This is where there is actually an arguement FOR a hefty restocking fee.

Yes, there will be a shortage and people will be selling these things on Ebay, etc for much more then they are worth. It's the same thing that happened during the PS2 launch prior to Christmas.

And I bet that Microsoft keeps supply low on purpose. There are LOTS of parents/families who will want it so that they can say "look what I have".
