Does anyone know why I can't save my Home Page under Internet Options in IE6? This is the 2nd computer that's happened to me this week and I've never had this problem before. Both happen to be by Dell, one laptop and one desktop. No matter what I do - use current, type something else in, use blank - it doesn't save when I hit Apply and OK. If I open it back up, it still shows the previous page that I don't want. The workaround I did on the laptop was doing it in safemode, but it shouldn't come down to that. Anyone else know what might be causing this?

It's possible it has something to do with your registry, since your homepage is stored in a registry variable. You could try editing it manually.

Check your registry at

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

I read somewhere else today that the Accoona Toolbar can cause this. Lots of things can, but I'd never heard of this one before.

Interesting. I just tried that and received this eroor message: "Error Editing Value: Cannot edit Start Page: Error writing the value's new contents" [Freak]

Going off what lemsip said, I wonder if my google toolbar is messing it up. [Uh Oh !]

I finally got back to this today. Thanks for finding that. I guess it appears that Zone Alarm is the culprit and that I am indeed doing it the only way (safe mode). Zone labs needs to fix that on their latest version or at least add an on/off button. Anyway, thanks again. [Wave]
