I was browsing through my STUFF magazine and they had an ad on the new Xterra etc... They were mentioning it had 261 HP now. I hope it was a misprint. Did anyone else see this ad ? I thought the 05 and up had the 265HP engine ?

same engine, same horsepower, just the way nissan and all car makers have to report horsepower numbers has changed, for example, the 06 tacoma is advertized as 235hp, while the 05 boasted 255, same engine. just goes to show you that nissan was much closer to actual than toyota was.

actually the tacoma went from 245 hp to 236 hp. TQ was down 10 lb/ft or more as well.

nissan lost 4hp and 3 lb/ft tq or something like that. I can assure you that the VQ40 motor does get up a little more than toyota's on the top end.
