I went to put my x in reverse from drive and it did not want to go into reverse. I had to jiggle the shifter quite a bit and apply some force and it eventually went in. It was cold today so i dont know if something got frozen or what? any ideas?

I definitely think the shifter in my X is the notchiest, tightest shifter I've ever felt but no lock-up. I like to think it's a sign of strength and that it's because it's just a beefier tranny than I've ever used before. It's only the second automatic I've ever owned in 27 years of driving but I've driven other automatics and this one does have a different feel.

After the car warmed up did you experience any more difficulty?

Did you have your foot on the brake?

If it happens again, you might try lifting out that little shift lock pin to the left of the shifter (I'm not talking about the button on the shifter, but the small squarish pin thingy on the console itself.)

That wont solve the under lieing problem, but might get you out of a "jam".

Ok so this issue is happening to me again. It seemes to do it when its slushy. So im thinking that slush or somthing is building up somehow in the shift mechanism and not allowing it to shift back into park...
