I'm installing some additional lights on my '05 in the lower intake space on the bumper, but I need to remove that bottom middle part (the light grey/siver part) in order to drill the holes ...does anybody know how to do this?

If you are talking about the fascia over the center of the bumper, just unscrew the sheet metal screws on bottom and then pull up on top of fascia. The top is just snaped in with tabs - 3- I believe. Took some effort but it snapped out. I have taken mine off and left it under the house. Made area more compact and I like the solid dark gray look of the bumper much better.
