thought i might bring this up again.

anyone come across any or any suggestions on where to look or manufacturers for the next get yet?

not really interested in full rotor replacement yet but would really like to upgrade the pads.

(i have already looked into Powerslot and Baer w/ no luck. )

How are the factory ones not up to snuff?

The brakes do have a bit of a spongy feel compared to the 1st Gen, but I seem to stop quickly enough when getting passed the first couple inches of pedal push.

I wondered if upgrading to braided brake lines might give it a firmer feel!

I would say that it is the computerized braking system that is making the odd feeling with the pedal. I've been doing a lot of towing lately and have no worries about being able to stop in time and like the fact that they aren't super sensitive. I've had to stop in a hurry loaded to the gills and unloaded, either way it still stopped predictablly and in time.

I'm interested too!

My brakes have been squealing and making noise from 5000-24000+km. My dealership said it's normal, and brakes are operating within specs.

They did however say that it might be a good idea when the inital pads are worn, to get an alternate upgraded set. i.e. not standard replacement to stop the squealing!

Does anybody know the exact size of the front and rear rotors on the 05/06 Xterra and if the brake calipers/rotors are shared with any other Nissan vehicle? I searched on nissanusa.com and the manual and couldn't figure out the exact rotor dimensions

The best pads I have a ever used are from Performance Friction . Their pads (Z-rated) improved both pedal feel and stopping ability on my Z28 and Suburban. Unfortunately they do not have pads available for the 05-06 X (or other 05-06 Nissan) yet. I have sent them an inquiry asking why not and when. I will post the reply when I receive it.
