I have an 05 X that the paint is getting pen head like rust on it. I thank that it is coming up under the clear coat . I would like to know if someone else is having this problem?

I bet what you are seeing is tar, light colored vehicles tend to get it on the lower panels and it actually looks like rust specks, try a polish on it or have a detailer look at it, I bet it will come right off. Mine is silver and I thought I had the same problem.

I don't believe that the white has a clear cote. It supposedly is a hard enough coating that it doesn't need it.

I have had this myself with other vehicles. A dealer (Body/Paint Dept.) told me it was "enviromental" rust spots that should come off fairly easily. With a little elbow grease it all came off. Seems this is very common with white vehicles. A good coat of wax seems to help after the spots are removed. Makes me uneasy that I breath the stuff. Some on-line research confirmed the dealers statement, nasty particles floating around in the air.
Good Luck

I like to use a good automotive wash to clean the paint, Clay bar, then a quality wax to seal the paint.

Clay bar - it'll pull all the pollution right out. I haven't done it on my X yet, becasue it's a dark color, but on my Maxima (white), I'd get tons of pollution and tiny specks of rust in/under the clear coat. The paint feels incredible when you're done with it. Wash the car with Palmolive first to strip all the wax, and don't forget to wax it when you're done. IT's a whole day process, but so worth it in the end.

I have seen this on mine also. I've been told that railway brake-dust from the vehicle's transport can somehow cause this.

A buddy of mine has this same problem on his white mini-van. He was told it was caused by brake dust from semi-metalic pads landing on the paint then rusting.
