Am I the only one that thinks a 140mph speedometer in my 06 Xterra is stupid. This is not a sports car. It also crunches the numbers to close together making it harder to read then necessary.

Yeah I guess... Maybe Nissan uses the same guage cluster (not the face plate but the innards) as they do with their other models, some of which are sports cars. They tend to do this with a lot of things, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I thought the same thing when I started driving, and since I also drive a 94 nissan pick-up I wonder why they were so cheap on the X spedometer set up when the one for the old pick-up is so much easier to read (when the cable catches).

Like the post above, its probably "borrowed" from a maxima or something, pretty typical.

yeah i actually like the spedo on the X. It will not go 140 MPH (govener only allows 110 MPH).

Hmm...I thought the governor was set at 90 mph. Not that there's much difference because I don't do either one, but just curious.

On the first gen trucks (2000-2004), the governer is set to 94 MPH (the speed rating of the stock tires). On the second gens, it is around 110 to 113.

I have the A/C lift, 33" Xterrain tires and I took off the rear swaybar. I inadvertantly found myself doing almost 100 once and it scared the ever loving shit out of me. It'll do it. Is it a good idea?

Last week at 5AM, I needed to get to the airport
which is an hour away in about 30mins... woke
up late. But I was surprised to find myself
hitting speeds of 100MPH+. The ride was smooth
and did not feel like 100mph even with my lift.
I would slow down then a few minutes later,
I look at the speedo and again at 100mph. The X
is a very capable vehicle.
