Yeah, I personally wouldn't use the quick fists for holding anything as heavy as a hi-lift. I was going to go that route originally and after ripping one of the quick fists I felt they wouldn't be safe.

only used the 2 brackets and hardware that came with the Yakima HiLift mount Kit . The Jack is the 60 inch length. If you click on the view full size button you can see the shovel mount as well.

HiLift has a provision for a padlock to be placed on one mount point. The shovel is usually off since it uses large plastic winged nuts with no security provision. But I did leave it on for a week after a trip to the mountains and no one stole it. I guess the key is to use a good rusty shovel.

hi lift is up all the time.
Mount brackets are metal but the inserts that wrap around the rack are made of plastic. This seems like it would give you the lattitude that you need to fit it to your rack dimensions.

But the problem is the diameter of my tube is 1"1/4 and the Yakima rack is 1"1/8th in diameter so my rack is a 1/4 inch bigger...do you think it would pose a problem?
