50 bucks... you got off easy. Could have been the whole engine depending on the depth of the water. smile

Ouch, how does that happen in a foot of water?

I've gone through deeper water with my old civic - seriously.

Its just luck of the draw... depending on speed, water flow, how intact the wheel wells are, it can be done.

That was a hell of a lot deeper than a foot! laugh

To the original poster. I feel ya! That same night I got into a deep puddle on a flooded dark street that I didn't see. Got a small splash into the intake, nothing major. I was doing around 35-40 mph at the time.

bpc - 50 bucks. You are lucky. I took my mom's Honda Qualude puddle jumping back when I had hair and abs. Circa 1988. Didn't realize how deep the puddle was unitl the car started to float down the street. If I remember correctly- $500.00 deductible, plus the $2100 engine rebuild. I used to have the bent piston arm and shattered piston in my garage. Nice souvenir. I'll never forget the lesson I got from the mechanic in front of my dad about water being non-compressible. LOL.
