I know this might sound stupid but I was wondering is it possible to change a 4x2 xterra to a 4x4? I bought a 4x2 instead of getting a 4x4 and its alil too late now to trade lol so I was just wondering is there any way to convert it to 4x4?

Take it from a guy who had a 4x2 X...Deal with your Fuck-up, untill you even out on your Payoff, and then trade-in, pay an extra $100 or so on your monthly payments, so you can reach it faster...DO NOT trade-in when you are upside-down on your pay-off....Good Luck..

There's nothing wrong with a 2wd, I bought one and love it. Although if you know how to drive, you can go places most 4wd's can go. Exceptions being rocky terrian, deep mud holes, 90 degree hills, and other extreme places no vehicle has any business going.

I agree with the above posts, and this is from the only guy here that has actually done it.
Here's the thread in the "Backyard Mechanic" section where I posted at the end.

Well looks like I'll just have to kick myself for not getting the 4x4. I gotta say though I'm still pleased with the 4x2 performance. The only thing that had me worried was reading another post about the 4x2 performing bad on icy and snowy roads but new tires and chains should take care of that. Thanks for everyone's input.

Yes Indeed...Actually, trading in Any New Vehicle for a Newer Vehicle ALWAYS is a money-losing proposition in any situation...it all comes down to whether how unhappy you are with your current vehicle, and you are willing to lose $$$ trading it in for something that you are going to be happy with...Personally, I think it's worth trading something in that you are not happy with on the long run....Good Luck...

Yeah I love my 4x2 xterra too much to be parting with it soon anyways so it shouldnt be going anywhere soon. Whats this about a V8 xterra that you are talking about? Is it the same one that will share the same engine as the new pathfinder?

There will be no V8 offered in the Xterra. Maybe the Pathfinder, but definitely not the Xterra.

How much snow you plannin to get there in Marion? Do they really sell tire chains in SC? Just take it easy in the yucky stuff and you'll be fine. No sudden inputs = no unexpected results....usually Cory

Well I was planning on moving to Maryland in the new future and I know it snows there and since I haven't driven much in snow I figured I'd ask. But yeah we do have chains down here for mud bogging and as for snow there are these freak storms once in awhile that actually do bring snow. I dunno if the 1 inch of snow counts for much but hey it gets me out of school.

the roads up here in Alaska are pure packed snow with ice where the tires have driven over it alot and i barely take my truck out of 2 wheel drive. just drive smart and you will be fine. 4X4 dosen't help you stop just helps with getting up to speed which is where the danger factor is. up here there are more suv's in the ditch than 2wd because they get to much speed. if you know what I mean.
