on the xterra spec sheets, it shows that a 4x4 xterra weighs around 300 lbs more than 4x2?
so that would be the transfer case, front driveshaft, front diff. that about covers it right?
how much does a transfer case weigh by itself?

The t-case assembly by itself tips the scales at ~110 lbs (49.4kg).
The front axle assembly by itself is ~95 lbs (43kg).
The CVs are ~15lbs each (6.9kg).
Front driveshaft is ~12 lbs (5.6kg).
So at the very least the truck will be 247 lbs heavier (actually more when you throw in the locking hubs, additional bracketry under the frontend to locate the diff, 4wd shifter and linkage). And more than half of the additional weight is centered between the front wheels. That is enough to run different valving on the shocks.

$41, huh? That's a kick-ass price. Dammit, I wouldn't have told you ladies about them if they were for male xterras.

damn that is a sweet price.
i'll have to keep an eye out for the 4wd shocks. i don't like the way the rears hang down so low and i'm afraid i'll mess one up one day.

Thanks for the update... I've been trying for weeks to find my vagina with little success.

Hello
It's cool to join the club and read all the stuff that people post but. So I guess I'll start by asking How often should shocks be replaced?
