I have a 2WD and i have put it over a 5 foot ramp and cleared all tires and landed it perfectly. Ive also hung on trails with 4WD vehicles and never gotton stuck. A 2WD if driven correctly can kill some obstacles (not rocks though). Speed over some things Ive found out is the key. Dirt trails are awsome at 40-50 Mph, add bumps and the real fun begins. cool

Oleg, everyone knows that a dirt road isnt an offroad trail. Gravel parking lots are! If you dont get stuck in that, then you are truly hardcore. laugh

I never said I cant get stuck, why hell its a 2WD im bound to get stuck sometime. I want to get into racing, not full off-road but dirt road/easy off-road racing. I just wanted to note that the X can take some hell. cool

Also, about speed, I found that for 2WD going over some obstacles fast (like a big ramp, hehe)can save you from getting stuck. Still though, speed plus X = adrenline rush, try it on an off day.

Thats annother thing the IFS is good at, it will take a beating alot better than a solid axle.

But the X will succumb eventually.
When things start to rattle and fall off, don't complain that Nissan builds shitty vehicles.

Hehe - I was just joking. laugh

With all the topics to talk about on XOC lately (100 mph, 2WD, religion), I'm not getting any school work done.
Oh well, it was time for an all-nighter anyway.

With stock suspension? Bullshit. I don't suppose you have that on videotape eh? And I bet you've got a bridge for sale too.

And Todrick, before you jump all over me, when it comes to 5 foot high jumps, I make no distinction between 2 and 4 wheel drive. Neither would hold up to that.

Metalikat3003, my suggestion would be quit watching reruns of CHIPS, learn to read a ruler, take a class on storytelling, and give your daddy back his keys--you're obviously too young to drive.

That is so wierd...I read this post, and then posted, and mine turned up before yours. Talk about strange.

5 foot high ramp huh? You'd totally bottom out, and ram your front tires up into the wheel well. That's a perfectly good way to ruin a truck. Off-road in what looks to be a stock vehicle is slow. The only reason people can do the shit you see in BAJA is because they dump so much $ into the truck, suspension and what not, that it's not REALLY the same truck anymore. Don't ruin the X. If you want to do that, give it to some poor underpriveleged person and take the bus instead.

nope... i agree

and really a 4x4 can be built out as a pre-runner as well the only thing is there is more thigns to break and a higher risk of doing just that... plus it costs more and is not that advantageuos...

with any luck im gonna have the first "todrick edition" Xterra... should be interesting to see how well it works out

Nah no Viedo Tape, but I wish I did. As for the bridge, sorry havent built it yet. Yeah the ramp was 5 feet and Ive got the two people that can vouch that I did it. I never watched CHIPS though sorry. Took speech for that story telling though, it helps. As for the keys to daddy, well he would love my X, but I paid for my car in full without parental help sooo, no keys for him.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here, but are you trying to rally race? If you are, you got the wrong vehicle..

I get a boner for rally racing.

We used to watch this "how-to" video with Michelle Mouton in her Audi Quattro way back when, a chick who can four wheel drift around a corner and heel-toe it like she's chewing gum ... mmmm that's a woman.

But anybody who thinks their Xterra is good for those kinds of jumps, you're an idiot! And I mean that in the nicest way. Best of luck to you, I hope you don't hurt yourself trying. I know it can be done, at least a few times anyways. I used to jump my Mom's Ford Escort with my friends in the back seat! Hooo that thing took a pounding. Not 5 feet of jumping, but 4 wheels off the ground, every time.

Was that stupid? Absolutely! But fun like hell! laugh

(edited to say I was 16 at the time, and invincible/indescructible, you know. Kids, always buckle up and get some first aid training, you *will* crash and hurt yourself eventually if you drive like a moron.)

In the opinion of a hardcore 2WD guy- I've run with the big dogs and I've always been impressed with how well the X stands up off road. But there are limitations and don't forget it. I used to think I could do it all until I saw what 4 wheelin really was, I love takein' my X off road and I don't want a 4x4, but I acknowlage the fact that there are alot more things you can do when you add lifs and lockers and all those other 4x4 options.
