Have you guys ever tried to tow anything with your 2WD X's? I have one and the manual says about 2500lbs...I'm wondering if that's just an understatement or if it's cuz it's only 2WD? I need to tow my Integra about 400-miles (up and down hills) and am afraid of causing undue strain on the engine and drivetrain...any hints? Thanks!

Doh! Now I'm not really sure...I read on various sites that the towing capacity for the 2WD Auto SE is 5000lbs...man...this is confusing! Heh...

3500 for the 5-speed, 5000 for the automatic.

Cool! Thanks! All I'm just worried about is that I'll have to tow it up huge hills as from Northern to Southern Cali, there's the Grapevine...and that's a gradual steep-grade uphill...but it should be good, right? I mean, it wouldn't damage the drivetrain or overheat? Are there any precautions I should take? Thanks!

Look into a transmission cooler.

Might not be a "must-have", but a little preventive measure can save a lot of headaches in the future . . .

I pull my 4500lb boat up the grapevine every weekend (during the summer) on the way to Pyramid lake with my X. It pulls fine the whole way, and will even keep 60 on the first steep grade out of castaic, though it is supercharged. I have yet to install a transmission cooler, and the trans oil has never burned (and yes I know what burned trans oil looks/smells like wink ).

BTW: I have also towed my 62 MBZ on a full car trailer (4500lb car + 1500lb trailer = overweight)with the X, no problems over Kellogg hill here in socal (pomona area) which is about a 5% grade. - Not that I would reccommend going over the manufacturers specified maximum towing rating...

It's not a 2WD or 4WD thing, the clutch is the issue. You've got the same engine so you could haul the same weight but you'd do your clutch in sooner then normal. So if you need to, you could pull the extra 1500lbs just be gentle with the clutch and don't make a habit of it unless your into installing new clutches. The lack of power in the X is a whole 'nother matter!

Just turn off the overdrive on the hills!

Thanks! I'll be careful...besides, it's not like my Integra is OE anyway...heh...anyways...any suggestions as to which tow-hook/hitch I should get? Should I spend the money and get the one from the dealer or should I look around for other deals? Any differences between different brands?

2500 lbs is for the 4cyl motor maybe?
I have the 5000lb hitch and towed a 2600lb car on a dual axle steel trailer that was about 2500 pounds itself from Tampa Fl. to Nashville TN. with no problem. Was a little slow going up Mt. Eagle mountian with its 30% grade.
If your gonna tow 3000lbs and higher alot, a cooler would be a good idea.
