Well, weather.com forecasts as of now as following:

"Mostly Sunny" @ 20% in Sacramento,
"Partly Cloudy" @ 20% in Sonora,
"Partly Cloudy" @ 20% in Strawberry, and
"Few Showers" @ 30% in Pinecrest.

Strawberry and Pinecrest are about half a mile apart, and Pinecrest is about 500 ft. higher in elevation.

If it's truely "few showers," I think we'll be still okay. That would probably get the ground little moistened...less dust for us.

If it changes to higher percentage in Strawberry and Pinecrest, we'll have to cancel this trip. If it rains in those area, it could be snowing at the Eagle Peak @ 9,370 ft. [Uh Oh !]

Keep your fingers crossed, and keep watching weather channel. laugh

Yeah I imagine at that elevation you are gonna get some snow.

Regarding the meeting place in Sonora.....the Pak & Sav.......do you have an address and basic directions of how to get there in Sonora? I have never been there so I have no idea how big or small the town is.

Thanks

Meeting time is still 9:30 to 10:00am in Sonora right? And what is the club FSR channel again? Thanks

The meeting place in Sonora is:

Park N Save
1291 Sanguineth
Sonora, CA 95370
(209) 533-7810

And, I have no idea what this place looks like. [Freak]

Best way to find out where it is seems to be the way I found it in the first place... Go to
http://www.safeway.com/StoreLocator.asp
and enter : Sonora, CA

I'll be coming through Dublin/Pleasanton, Manteca, Oakdale....on Hwy 108 to Sonora.

Meeting time in Sonora is still 9:30 - 10:00 am... Club FRS channel...? What's that? ...Let's try Ch.8.0 (no sub-code). laugh

By the way who is all coming on this run just curious?

I did want to ask though? Is there "anyway" we could possible move the meeting time in Sonora up a little bit? I am thinking 9:00 to 9:30? Would give us a chance to get off the trail a little bit earlier for the long drive home? I was hoping to get back out to the highway by 3:30? Is that a possibility?

I don't have a problem shifting the meeting time by 30 min., but I'm not sure about others. So, that means...

Meeting Place: McDonald's @ Santa Rita Exit off of I-580 in Pleasanton @ 6:30 am [Sleep]
Lunch & Snack Shopping: Park N Save in Sonora @ 9:00 - 9:30 am [Sleep]
Trail head: 10:30 am

Is everyone okay w/ this change? Please post your response... [Smoking]

Thanks Akio......not trying to cause any problems but just thinking with the day light getting short and such earlier the better. Should put you guys and gals home at a little better hour too?

I know myself and my friend with the Xterra are fine with it. That makes 2 of 6 ok

Yeak thanks I had a great time.......was great to meet all of you.

After I split off from you to go home I had an interesting time. About 20 minutes down 49 I came to a huge line of cars backed up with people all standing outside their vehicles. I was told a huge pile up ahead and they had closed the highway indefinately. Well........lets just say I should have stuck with you guys and gone 108 out....since I had to back track and hit 108...to 120...to 99.

Oh well....still had a great time and looking forward to getting out again. Great view from Eagle Pk

Yeah it was great to meet all of you too....I had a great time! Did Andy ever make it home ok after that phantom electrical bug popped up?

By the way I was already looking ahead to some possible "winter" runs where we have to stay down at lower elevations. I noticed there are some nice trails.....although not to challenging up by foresthill.

Another location with a little more challenge would be say the Jeep Peligrine trail (this one is very promising....highest elevation here is 3700 ft) just east of Red Bluff? There is Lovelady Ridge..................and of course there is always our friend Hollister OHVP. If you are even remotely interested in a snow run there is always the Icehouse reservoir area....where the destination could be sledding and a day in the snow before you head back home. There is the old pony express trail that you can take from Icehouse back down to Highway 50 (this route is also called Webber Mill Rd) . I took this once in the winter time and if the snow isn't down to low it is just muddy with a little snow mixed in. Actually made for an "interestingly" challenging little trip back to US 50.

Anyway you do have to get more creative and maybe drive a little further (north) to run in the winter......but it can be done. Just some ideas.

Wow... What a timing. [Freak] That was my choice Peligreen Jeepway for early November run... Because of the distance, I am planning to make it a camping trip...(I guess you could make it a day trip, but 250 miles/4.5 hours is a bit too much for me for a day run... [Uh Oh !] ) The date for it is either Nov. 6-7 or Nov. 13-14...depending upon which is more convenient for majority. smile I guess I should start a new topic on this one soon...

LOL laugh

Yeah I have been kind of saving to do that one for the fall/winter because of the elevation too. November should be a great time to run this as it is REALLY hot there in the summer time. Hopefully it is on a weekend I can make it would love to run it with the club. I will keep my eye out for your post.

Yeah for people from the Sac area it could be made into a day run...............a long day run but it would be definately be doable in one day if you cant get a camping pass from your significant other for the night. lol

Gates are closed on that trail for deer hunting and I dont think they open the one side up till spring. And its at least a three day trip. It looks like a great trail been on it a few times Just some small sections. It is not a stock friendly trail And yes it will get snow up where it exits. Its is about an hour and half out of red bluff to one trail head and about 2 1/2 till the other. I dont know if the road still passible because only quads go on it.
