Club Event:
5/29, 5/30, & 5/31...Barney Riley Trail Run W/Camping!

Anyone who has not been on this trail, I recommend attending this trip!

Dates:
Sat 5/29, Sun 5/30, & Mon 5/31

Barney Riley Location:
Loope Canyon turn off from Hwy 89. It's about 2 miles east of the Hwy 89 & Hwy 4 junction, just south of Markleeville

Meeting Time:
Trailhead @ 1:00pm Saturday
There is an out house, hot springs, & river right next to our campsite. Great time of year for those of our club members who have never been on the Barney Riley Trail!

A Must Requirement:
4x4 required, but stock vehicles should do fine. Take those stock step rails off. The Barney Riley Trail is rated a 5...Very challenging 5-rating for those of you folks that like tuff trails!

I would love to go, but I already have plans. frown It is a great trail though, and I highly recomend it to everyone. It can be a little challenging, but a stock X will make it. I would suggest taking off the step rails, mud flaps, and rear sway bar. Although taking the rear sway bar off is not nessicery, it makes it much easier.
Here are some pics from our May trip
Clicky, Clicky

Have fun on the trip, I will be out there the following weekend, laugh if anyone wants to check out that trip, click here.

I think I know the answer to this but does anyone dare do this on a day trip? Reason I ask is I really want to go but cant do an overnight due to my wife's health and my 2 year old daughter.

Would be interested if someone else out there is crazy enough to do it with me (that has gone before so you know the way) lol

I did this trail once also....It's a lot of fun.
FWIW, we're also going in the next two weekends in a row..Once via Loope and the other, for more built rigs, accesses the river from the west side rather than going in from Loope.
Anyone interested, drop an email or visit here
Have fun!
PS I'd join you, but I'll be on the Rubicon doing an exploration run.....snicker! [Too much XOC]

You guys have a blast! I'm headed off to Homestead near the Blackrock this weekend (Gerlach area).

Slamson: You can do it in a day, but it would be a looooong day...I would also suggest finding someone to go back out with you, because there are a couple of spots where a spotter and bailout might be needed. For comfort and safety reasons, I would only do this run as an overnighter--personally.

For those that have done the trail before, you will notice the area near the Hangtree got a wee bit more challenging (mostly on the way out) smile

THanks for the words of caution for a one day trip...I think I will take your advise.....and bide my time for another NCCX day run.

Plus gives me more time to get my shocks and sliders which would give more peace of mind as well on this trail

What are the ways to get to the end of the trail next to the river? Only by going through off-road trail, other than coming down on the river?

Well, I guess my clear question would be: What are the chances that we would see more groups of people IF we decided to do BRT?

Yes, those are the only 2 ways in.
This hill would stop most, it's worse than it looks in this photo.................

.........but on a 3 day weekend it's quite possible there could be a crowd.
There are several good campsites, but just one has the table and outhouse. smile

BTW rain and thunderstorms are in the forcast for tonight and parts of tomorrow. Just a heads up. It can get muddy and slick in there when wet. Personally I like hot and slick, not muddy and slick.
