Deer Valley

I was thinking nice relaxed three day weekend (2 days if you can't get Monday off). We will head in through HWY88 so it should make it easier for less modified vehicles. My only requirement will be sliders (not really needed, but good insurance on this trail).

Sat 7/22

9am
McDonalds
6800 SANTA RITA RD
PLEASANTON, CA 94588

11am
Safeway
9 S State Highway 49-88
Jackson, CA 95642

We should be at the trailhead by 1pm with plenty of time to wheel to camp and set up.

Have fun, and take lots of pictures. laugh

Southern stream crossing (the wide shallow one) below the rock garden. We're just going to hang out and relax. This trip is a CAMPING trip, not a WHEELING trip. smile

The only (two) [Crybaby] dents I have are both from DV and both going from 88 to 4. The easy way. Which we've done several times without mishap. So, sliders are good! Paying close attention to the line is a good thing as well! [Freak]

Is this really a trail a stocker with only rocksliders can expect to get through? Just asking since I am considering trying to get a one night pass from the Mrs to do this trip.

Thanks

LOL

She is usually only game for one "tent" camping xcursion a year.....I was hoping to get her out to Cleghorn Bar over labor day with the club.....I don't think I can get her to do two.
laugh

I am goning to have to think a little more about this run with my stocker. I hate to slow you guys down..........and right now I am having a hard time keeping my engine skid plate on (all the threads in the backer nuts holding my skids on are stripping except for one). I may need to get a shrock set.....finally having the justification to ditch the stockers.

I will think this over and post back if I am going to jump in on this one. :-)

I already have plans on Sunday. I only have Saturday free. Can I do a one day run? That is, is it easy to get in and out of the trail on the same day?

I am getting restless. I need to get my 4 wheeling fix else I will go crazy. Even a one day run on Saturday will help keep my sanity. smile

Yes, but you will need to plan on arriving back home sometime near 11pm.

Good, cause I was getting worried there...

Huey/Dean,
When you stop for groceries, if you have room can you squeeze in a box of fruit flavored popsicles?
I'll pay you back.

Geoff, my fridge will be full of refrigerated foods, and won't be configured for freezing on this trip, so popsicles won't survive.

Sorry! frown

It was nice meeting you Patrick and Mel.

Hope the rest of the group had a good trail run today. Here's my pics. Best viewed with IE so you can see the thumbnails. High res versions available upon request, just let me know which number.

I have this one .

I got it for about $350 as a factory-reconditioned model from the manufacturer\'s website .

A friend of mine uses a much smaller Waeco model as a freezer, in which he stores frozen water bottles and other frozen foods. He then transfers the water bottles to a standard large ice chest to keep his food cool. As the water melts, he just trades them for frozen ones. In doing this he is always able to have both frozen and refrigerated foods during extended camping trips.

Oh and Dean, I noticed Tadgear has the CR123A batteries for $1.25 each or $1.11 each depending on how many you get.

Mark,

nice photos! I forgot my cameras for our trip. [Freak] Thank you for reminding me how beautiful the Sierras are. [ThumbsUp]

After camping [Sleep] overnight next to the river under Salt Springs Res, we took the same route to blue lake as you. We actually thought we wouldnt make it up that dirt bypass, so we ended up running through that snow bank and after 4 or 5 tries with some onlookers, me made it up and through.

Rick and I both thought deer valley was pretty insane. I think we'll have to join the rest of you for better adventures in the future!
