If you're going to drive into Austin, why not stay a while?

Saturday, May 22 - Sunday, May 23
Camping at Turkey Bend Recreation Area

It has been suggested that we have the actual meeting separate from the camping area. The only issue with that is that there are no good restaurants in relatively close proximity to the good campsites.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anyone know any easy-to-get-to restaurants along 1431 (between I-35 and Marble Falls) that would do well for a meeting?

Are there any places to do some wheeling around the area? Maybe after the meeting before camping -just a suggestion.

we can always head out to the yager area to wheel, its not close by but its in austin and open enough for a larger group of trucks, it is more mudding than climbing.

Sorry, I am not gonna be able to attend this one.

I got that guy coming up from McAllen and we are exchanging bumpers. Finally, I will have my ARB!

Turkey Bend is kinda flat, but it's a nice little park right on the lake. The spot I'd like to set up camp is a little of the beaten path, so at least you will get to go off-road.

That's the only catch with Austin - not a whole lot of places to wheel (legally). You take your chances when you find "this new spot to go muddin'" 9.5 times out of 10 you're on someone's land that doesn't want you there. Probably not the best idea for a club-sanctioned event.

Are those dates solid? If they are great, then I will put them down on my schedule and come down and meet some of the local members. Please respond ASAP, I will keep my eye on this thread.

Great! Then this is it, I'll be able to meet some folks that are members of a club I paid a fee to be in, not that, thats bad but, you know what I mean. [ThumbsUp]

I'll be there, barring any weird stuff.

I may bring my two boys (8 and 6 yrs. of age)

haven't talked to becky (wife), but plan on going. if anybody wants to do some wheeling, there is devils den in san antonio, about 1.5-2 hours from roundrock depending on traffic. if anybody wants to come down friday night, live in new braunfels so place to crash, get early start saturday at the den. play a little then goto meeting let me know. if not, sunday is also open. pat and rick, respond when get a chance.

edit: just pulled up turkey bend and it looks farther than round rock time wise, so it is up to whoever wants to venture down to san antonio. maybe a devils den group thing later in the summer/year.

It's a ways off the beaten path. The Dallas and San Antonio folks may find it just as easy to come down/up 281 to Marble Falls and over from there. I guess it depends on where/if we want to meet for lunch elsewhere first.

Chia,

We are just camping at Turkey Bend. We are not necessarily holding the meeting there. Besides, it is only like 25 miles from Round Rock. Heck, my daily commute is longer. smile Why couldn't you make it?

Jason, has a place for the actual meeting been chosen yet? Just curious.

Turkey Bend is 15 minutes from my house in Cedar Park. We passed it going out to Marble Falls last weekend.

Not far away at all . . .

Austin folks - any suggestions for restaurants?

What is the feeling about just meeting out at the park and grilling burgers and hot dogs?

All -

We are planning on grilling burgers and dogs at the camp site for the meeting (which the club will pay for). All you need to do is BYO-Beverage. Please respond, or let one of the club officers know, by May 19th if you plan on attending (along with any guests) so we can buy enough for everyone to eat.

Oh, on another note...

Hi-Lift is 'sponsoring' this meeting and has sent us some 'stuff' to raffle off. What is it? Oh, just a recovery kit and a new jack is all. Unlike the clock which is going up on eBay, you must be present at the meeting to partake in the raffle for one of these. smile I will also be bringing some stuff to give out donated by Black Magic.

This would be my first club event so I am wondering if this would be a good one to go to. Don't really know anyone. Any advice?

Free food at the meeting (being held at the camp site)

Free goodies from Black Magic
